YOUR FIRST STEPS, MADE CLEAR
Setting up a hardware wallet doesn’t have to feel complicated. Use this straightforward guide to understand Ledger.com/Start, prepare your device, and protect the keys to your crypto.
Independent educational guide. Not an official Ledger website.
A SIMPLE PLACE TO BEGIN
Take your time. A careful setup now can help you avoid costly mistakes later.
Unbox your Ledger wallet yourself. Buy only from Ledger or a trusted seller, and never use a device that arrives with a recovery phrase already written down.
Type ledger.com/start directly into your browser. Follow the official setup instructions for your wallet model and download Ledger Wallet only from Ledger’s official source.
Create a PIN on the device and write down the recovery phrase on paper. Keep it private and offline. Ledger support will never ask you to share it.
THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE
It can restore access to your wallet, so treat it like the master key to your assets. Never photograph it, type it into a website, or share it in a message—even if someone claims to be support. Anyone with the phrase may be able to access your funds.
